What a Meta account needs before the first ad

  • Business portfolio · Owned by the business
  • Pixel + Conversions API · Events tested
  • Domain verification · Done
  • Product catalog · For online stores
  • Lead routing · Form, WhatsApp or CRM

A general checklist, not an audit of your account.

What it is

What a Meta Ads agency does

A Meta Ads agency builds and runs paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. That covers the tracking, the audiences, the ads themselves and the budget, all managed against one number: what each lead, chat or sale costs you.

Meta creates demand: it shows your offer to people who weren't looking yet. If people already search for what you sell, Google Ads usually belongs in the plan too. Paid also works better with an active page behind it, which is what our social media marketing service keeps going.

Why it matters

What a properly built Meta account changes

  • Ads aimed at buyers, not likers

The campaign goal tells Meta who to find. Pick purchases, leads or chats, and delivery goes to people likely to take that action instead of people who like posts.

  • Sales you can actually see

Ad blockers and phone privacy settings hide part of what the pixel records. The Conversions API sends the same events from your site or store, so the account learns from fuller data.

  • Ads that keep improving

Several clearly different ads compete, weak ones are switched off, and winners are refreshed before people tire of seeing them.

What's involved

What Meta Ads management covers

This is the work a well-run account needs. See how paid media is quoted on our pricing page. Your quote lists exactly which items are included, and we confirm the timeline when we scope your project.

  • Account and access

Business portfolio, ad account, pages and pixel organized in the business's name, with partner access for the agency.

  • Pixel and Conversions API

Browser pixel plus server events, domain verification and events for purchases, leads or chats, checked so nothing counts twice and the numbers sit close to your store or CRM.

  • Audience plan

Location, age and interest targeting, lookalike audiences from your customer list, and retargeting of site visitors and video viewers.

  • Creative

Ad copy, static images, carousels and short videos sized for Feed, Stories and Reels, with captions on screen because many people watch without sound. You can send your own photos and clips, or we can arrange them as part of the quote.

  • Campaigns by goal and stage

New audiences, warm audiences and returning customers run as separate campaigns. Stores can add catalog ads connected from Shopify, WooCommerce or a product feed.

  • Testing and reporting

Budget moves to the ads with the lowest cost per result, audiences are refreshed and frequency is watched. Reports show spend, results, cost per result and which ads won. You get a short written update each month.

Anatomy of a feed ad

What a Facebook or Instagram feed ad is made of

On Meta, the ad itself does most of the targeting. A video that speaks to new mothers finds new mothers, even with broad settings. These are the parts you control.

  1. Page name and Sponsored label

The ad runs from your Facebook or Instagram page, so a page with recent posts makes the click feel safer.

  2. Primary text~125 characters shown

Only the first lines show before "See more". Put the offer and who it is for up front.

  3. Image or video1:1 or 4:5 in Feed · 9:16 in Stories and Reels

The part people actually stop for. Test clearly different ideas: a product demo, a customer problem, an offer, a behind-the-scenes clip.

  4. Headline~40 characters

One short line under the media. It names the product or the offer.

  5. Call-to-action button

Picked from Meta's fixed list, such as Shop now, Sign up or Send WhatsApp message. Match it to the campaign goal.

Boost or campaign

Boosted post vs Ads Manager campaign

The Boost button is the easiest way to spend money on Facebook and Instagram. It is also the least useful for sales. Row by row:

What Meta aims for
Boosted postEngagement or reach on that one post.
Ads Manager campaignThe result you choose: a purchase, a lead form or a WhatsApp chat.
Who Meta finds
Boosted postPeople who like and comment, not necessarily people who buy.
Ads Manager campaignPeople likely to take the action you chose.
Ads
Boosted postOne ad, no test.
Ads Manager campaignSeveral ads compete and the weak ones are switched off.
Budget
Boosted postStays on the one post.
Ads Manager campaignMoves to the ads that work.
Tracking
Boosted postOften runs with no pixel, so nobody sees what happened after the click.
Ads Manager campaignPixel and Conversions API events show cost per lead or sale.

Boosting is fine when you only want more people to see a post that is already doing well. When the goal is sales, build a campaign.

Picking the campaign goal

Pick the wrong goal and the campaign optimizes for the wrong people.

  • Website sales

You sell online and checkout is tracked.

Needs: Pixel and Conversions API firing on purchase.

  • Website leads

You have a landing page with a form.

Needs: A fast page and a tracked thank-you step.

  • Instant lead forms

You want leads without a website visit.

Needs: Someone who calls back within hours, plus qualifying questions.

  • WhatsApp chats

Your buyers ask before they buy, as many do in Pakistan and the Gulf.

Needs: A WhatsApp Business number, quick replies and a way to tag chats that became orders.

Meta Ads: common questions

Is boosting a post the same as running Meta Ads?

No. Boosting promotes one post with limited targeting and goals, usually for engagement or reach. Ads Manager campaigns let you choose a business goal such as leads or purchases, test several ads against each other, target or exclude audiences, and track results through the pixel. Boosting is fine for reach. Campaigns are for sales.

How much should I spend on Facebook and Instagram ads?

Enough to get regular conversions every week, so Meta's delivery system can learn. The right figure depends on your cost per lead or sale, which varies by industry, country and offer. A budget too small to reach that point can't be tested properly. We talk through a realistic budget for your market when we scope your account.

Do you make the ad creatives?

Creative decides most of a campaign's results, so it has to be planned, not added at the end. The split between what the agency designs or edits and what you supply, such as product photos or video clips, is set in the quote. We design ad images and edit short videos as part of the work.

What is the Conversions API and do I need it?

The Conversions API sends conversion events from your website server or store platform straight to Meta, alongside the browser pixel. It recovers events that ad blockers and browser privacy settings hide. If you sell online or collect leads on your site, you should have it.

Can Meta Ads send leads to WhatsApp?

Yes. Click-to-WhatsApp ads open a chat with your business number. They suit buyers who prefer to ask before ordering, which is common in Pakistan and the Gulf. You need someone ready to reply fast, because a chat goes cold quickly.

Who should own the ad account and the pixel?

The business should. The ad account, pixel, pages and catalog belong in your own Meta business portfolio, with the agency given partner access. Then if you change agencies, you keep the data and the audiences. With us, accounts are set up in your name.
