You can outsource SEO to Pakistan and get good work, but only if you check the right things before you sign. Price is usually why US businesses look at Pakistani agencies. Whether it works out depends on six checks:
- Who will actually do the work
- Whether your accounts stay in your name
- How many working hours overlap with yours
- What the monthly reports show
- The contract, payment method and currency
- Real knowledge of the US market you sell in
This guide walks through each one. We are an SEO agency in Karachi with clients in the US, so we have a stake in the answer. Use the checklist on us too.
Why US businesses look at Pakistan for SEO
Cost is the main reason. Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers and found that 79.1% of SEOs in the US and Canada charge at least $1,001 a month, while 76% of SEOs based in India, the closest country with data, charge $1,000 or less (Ahrefs, updated 15 August 2024). Pakistan is not broken out in that survey. Our guide to SEO cost in Pakistan covers the published ranges.
The second reason is time. Pakistan (UTC+5) is 9 hours ahead of New York in summer and 10 in winter. Most of the Karachi working day falls before US offices open, so handovers and call times need planning.
Lower cost only helps if the work is done well. The rest of this guide is about making sure it is.
Working hours: how much overlap you get
Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5, and Pakistan does not use daylight saving time. The US does, so the gap changes twice a year. Here is what a Karachi working evening looks like in US time:
| Karachi (PKT) | New York (summer / winter) | Los Angeles (summer / winter) | Dubai |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 a.m. | 1:00 a.m. / 12:00 midnight | 10:00 p.m. / 9:00 p.m. (previous day) | 9:00 a.m. |
| 6:00 p.m. | 9:00 a.m. / 8:00 a.m. | 6:00 a.m. / 5:00 a.m. | 5:00 p.m. |
| 8:00 p.m. | 11:00 a.m. / 10:00 a.m. | 8:00 a.m. / 7:00 a.m. | 7:00 p.m. |
| 10:00 p.m. | 1:00 p.m. / 12:00 noon | 10:00 a.m. / 9:00 a.m. | 9:00 p.m. |
East Coast businesses get the easiest overlap: a Karachi evening covers the New York morning. West Coast businesses get a shorter window. For UAE clients, Karachi is one hour ahead, so the working days line up almost exactly.
Ask any provider when they are available for calls, and how fast they reply to messages outside that window.
The six checks, in detail
1. Who will do the work
Ask for the name of the person running your account and who else touches it: content writers, technical staff, link outreach. Some agencies sell the work and pass it to freelancers. That is not always bad, but you should know.
2. Account ownership
Before work starts, make sure you own these and the agency is only a user:
- Google Search Console
- Google Analytics
- Google Business Profile (for local businesses)
- Your domain registrar and hosting
- Any SEO tool accounts paid for on your behalf
If an agency asks to create these accounts in its own name, say no.
3. Overlap hours and Google’s own hiring questions
Use the time table above to check how much of your working day a provider can actually cover. Then ask Google’s own questions. Google publishes a list of questions to ask before hiring an SEO. They include asking for examples of previous work, experience in your industry, and experience in your country or city (Google Search Central, updated 5 June 2026). The same page warns that no one can guarantee a number one ranking on Google. A provider who promises one has told you what you need to know.
4. Reporting and communication
Ask to see a sample monthly report. It should show what was done, what changed in rankings and traffic, and how many calls, forms or sales came from search. Rankings alone are not enough.
Agree on the channel too. Email, a shared project board, Slack or WhatsApp. Pick one and keep decisions there, so nothing is lost across time zones.
5. Contract, payment and currency
Read the contract for the minimum term, notice period and what happens to content and links if you leave. Ask which currency the invoice is in, which payment methods the agency accepts, and who pays bank or transfer fees.
6. US market knowledge
Ranking a plumber in Houston is a different job from ranking a shop in Karachi. US local SEO relies on US directories, US review platforms and city-level competitors. Ask how the agency researches a US market and what US work they can show you.
Agency, freelancer or white-label partner
There are three common ways to outsource SEO to Pakistan. Each fits a different buyer.
| Option | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Agency, hired directly | Business owners who want one accountable provider for strategy and delivery | Sales contact differs from the people doing the work |
| Freelancer on a marketplace | Small, clearly defined tasks such as an audit or a set of page fixes | Availability, holidays and continuity if the freelancer leaves |
| White-label partner | US agencies that resell SEO to their own clients | Report branding, confidentiality and who speaks to the end client |
If you run an agency, our white-label SEO page explains how a reseller arrangement works.
Start small before you sign a long contract
You do not have to commit to a 12-month retainer on day one. A short, fixed piece of work shows you how a provider thinks, writes and communicates before you trust them with your whole site. Good first projects:
- A technical audit of your site with a prioritized list of fixes
- Keyword research for one service or one city
- Rewriting two or three of your main service pages
- A Google Business Profile clean-up for one location
Judge the result on three things. Was it delivered on the agreed date? Can you understand it without a call? Did they explain why, not only what? If the answers are yes, a monthly retainer is a much smaller risk.
What to send a provider before the first call
You will get a more accurate proposal, and a faster one, if you send these before the first meeting:
- Your website address and the cities or states you serve
- Your top services or products, in order of profit
- Two or three competitors you lose customers to
- What you have tried before, and what happened
- Read-only access to Search Console and Analytics, if you have them
A provider who asks for none of this before quoting is guessing.
Red flags when outsourcing SEO
Walk away, or ask hard questions, if you see any of these:
- Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed traffic numbers
- Link packages sold by the hundred or thousand
- No written list of monthly deliverables
- Requests to own your Google accounts or domain
- Reports with no traffic, lead or sales data
- No answer to “who will work on my account?”
