    What makes a title and description get clicked

    • Lead with what the page is: the service or product first, your brand last.
    • Use the words people search: put the main keyword near the start of the title, once.
    • Give a reason to click: in the description, say who it's for and what they get, then a next step ("Request a quote").
    • One page, one title: every page needs its own title and description. Copies compete with each other.

    How long should a meta title be?

    Google cuts titles by width, not by a fixed number of characters. On desktop the cut-off is roughly 600 pixels, which is often about 50 to 60 characters. This tool measures the pixel width so you see where it will cut.

    How long should a meta description be?

    Aim for about 120 to 160 characters. Google cuts longer descriptions, and on phones it often shows a bit more text than on desktop.

    Will Google always show my title and description?

    Not always. Google may rewrite them to match a search better. A clear, accurate title and description that match the page give you the best chance it uses yours.

    Does the meta description affect rankings?

    Not directly. It affects whether people click your result, which is why it is worth writing well.
