Questions about this tool
How many colours should a brand palette have?
Usually one or two main brand colours, one accent for buttons and highlights, and a couple of neutrals (a dark for text and a light for backgrounds).
What do analogous, complementary and triadic mean?
Analogous colours sit next to each other on the colour wheel and feel calm. Complementary colours are opposite and give strong contrast. Triadic colours are evenly spaced and feel lively.
How does "from a photo" work?
The tool groups the photo's pixels into five main colours, in your browser. It's a quick way to match a palette to a product photo or a place.
Will these colours be readable as text?
Each colour shows whether white or dark text reads better on it. For exact checks, use our colour contrast checker.
